About ONYX

ONYX is an organization formed and operated by People of Color who enjoy the leather lifestyle.

ONYX sets as its' goal, to provide an informational and social organization to address issues specific to people of color who chose to project the positive aspects of the leather community and support our community and economic initiatives.

Support, spirituality, safety and saneness are keys to attaining our goals.

Toward this end, it is the principle aim of ONYX to develop in its' members the highest standards of loyalty to the laws and established code of ONYX and to treat all in society with honor, unselfishness and tolerance.

It is the responsibility of each member to uphold the traditions, standards and practices of this organization as well as the time honored principles of democracy on which this country was built.

The term "leather-boy" being defined as broadly as possible with the intent of being inclusive and "boy" not being based on gender, age, sexual orientation or appearance. "boy" refers to all submissives that exist in the Leather lifestyle with a masculine energy.

It is the fundamental belief of this organization that no finer means is offered for the achievement of these aims than the brotherly association of persons with similar tastes, inclinations and goals.

Being a Leatherman/boy is more than being a member of a back patch club.  Our club and the larger leather community embrace some very laudable traits.

Acceptance of a person’s opinions, strengths and weaknesses

Acceptance of dress, sexual appetites

Willingness to teach by example and an openness to reveal private information to help a brother learn and grow.

Comfort with one’s self

Comfort in one’s own skin and place in the community and the world

A cooperative mind set with others

Collegiality with his brothers in decision-making – not always insisting on his own opinions.  Embracing the majority opinion and supporting an endeavor.  Publicly and privately supporting those elected to lead.

Without being secretive, not making his personal trials and tribulations a problem for the whole.

These are hallmarks of and values of the leather community and of Onyx New York.
